Our Government - A Bunch Of Teenage Hackers

I don't know why this pisses me off so much, but it does. I guess it's because the neocon Bush administration's disinformation program is so widespread and creepy. The fact that U.S. military or CIA or other mentally ill humans actually spend tax payer money to secretly edit Wikipedia, just makes me ill. Stephen Colbert does it for fun, and tells everybody about it. These guys do it for reals...and hide. What in the fuck is this world coming to?

According to an article on Antiwar.com, The New York Times said today that Wikileaks caught somebody at Guantanamo editing Wikipedia to put Guantanamo in a more favorable light, as well as adding old lies about Fidel Castro being a transsexual.

Well, so what if he is? He can hang out with cross-dresser Rudy Giuliani and Larry bathroom-stall-toe-tapper and be in fine company.

Here's the stuff:

Julian Assange of Wikileaks laid out evidence on the group’s web site Wednesday indicating that computers belonging to the base’s Joint Task Force-Guantánamo command were used for the suspicious online activity, including:

“deleting detainee ID numbers from Wikipedia last month, the systematic posting of unattributed ’self praise’ comments on news organization web sites in response to negative press, boosting pro-Guantánamo stories on the internet news site Digg and even modifying Fidel Castro’s encyclopedia article to describe the Cuban president as ‘an admitted transexual’ [sic].”

Mr. Assange’s report caught the attention of, among other news outlets, The Daily News of New York, which wrote about the situation on Thursday.
